Balding is much more common among White males than males of other races.

(A) than
(B) than among

More common among X than Y

OR

More common among X than among Y

why do we need the second AMONG ?

More X than Y; X and Y must be Logically and grammtically parallel

Logically needs to be stressed here

In A

X= Occurence of Balding among white males
Y= males of other races..

Occurence of Balding among white males is compared with males

B sets the comparison right both grammtically and logically

Its nicely explained by iamcste. More X & than Y = X & Y has to be parallel

Also, the correct Idiom is

More common among X than among Y

MGMAT 2007 edition pg 111

Hope this helps
