Application essay typo

Post Wed Mar 02, 2016 1:08 pm
Was reviewing an essay I submitted to a top 10 school. Found one typo that read "on the in the East Coast." This is the only mistake and it was missed by another person who reviewed the essay. Is this type of mistake an automatic rejection?

Hi army to civilian,

Since you're ultimately asking an admissions question, you might want to ask the Admissions Experts in their Forum here:

http://www.beatthegmat.com/ask-an-mba-admissions-consultant-f40.html

The likely answer to your question is NO. Admissions Officers are savvy individuals - they know that typos happen sometimes, so you won't be rejected outright because of 1 typo. You have to respect the highly competitive nature of these types of Programs though - just about everyone who applies is a strong applicant, so the overall acceptance rates dictate that the odds are against every applicant.

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
