"Manufacturers are responsible for ensuring that their products are safe. If a product injures someone, for whatever reason, the manufacturer should be held legally and financially accountable for the injury."

Essay:

I tend to agree that manufacturers have the responsibility of ensuring that their products are safe and that they should be legally accountable for any injuries caused by their products. I would like to present the reasons for my agreement on this statement.

First consider the pain and issues that a consumer of the product would go through due to a bad product. This asks the manufacturers to do everything possible that their products are safe before it gets to the consumers. They should compensate the consumers for all the troubles that a bad product would cause.

During the year of 2002 United states had many incidents of SUV rollovers and eventually it was linked to Bad tires manufactured by Bridgestone this led to the recall of millions of tires from the company. This is an example where the company was held legally and financially accountable for the injuries.

Further consider the example of China where a manufacturing company which made baby milk contaminated it with melamine which caused a number of deaths in babies. During Incidents such as these the manufacturing companies should be accountable and do the needful.

Lastly the example of Lead infested toys were recalled by toy manufacturing companies in united states to prevent injuries to kids using these toys. These are the things that a manufacturing company needs to be held accountable for.

Making a product is one thing and making a product which is safe for the users in another thing. Manufacturing companies need to pay more attention to the products that they make so that incidents such as those mentioned above does not occur. In scenarios where these are overlooked upon and cause injuries those companies need to step up and be accountable for the incidents.
