Hi Stacey,
Thanks in advance for responding to my query here.
I was waitlisted by Giozueta in their early decision round, and I was asked to send some supplemental information. Later, I received a feedback from the adcom informing me that my application is solid and there is nothing that needs to be done on my part to make it stronger - It;s just that it's a very competitive applicant group this year.
Also, I was told that my application will be evaluated with applicants in the subsequent rounds. Two rounds have already elapsed since I applied to Goizueta and my decision has not changed from wait list. I have now also received an admit from Simon School of Business with 20000$ in scholarship per year.
Goizueta is my first choice, and I would surely join if admitted.
Could you please help me answer the below questions:
1. Can I now write an essay/letter to them detailing any developments in my profile?
2. Can I tell them that I have an offer from two different schools, which I am required to accept with in a stipulated time?
3. I had already sent some additional information to them in the past. Can I ask a colleague/Supervisor to send additional recommendation letter? Do I have to check with them regarding sending an additional letter.
4. I am due to get promoted as an Assistant Manager on 1st March, but it has not been released yet. Can I talk about this in the essay?
Thanks so much!
Shajji

Hi Shajji,
Congrats to you on your acceptance to Simon! Also a big congrats for making it onto the waitlist at Goizueta. You have a difficult decision to make, but I'm confident that at the end of the day the right choice will be clear.
Please see my comments/response below:
1. Can I now write an essay/letter to them detailing any developments in my profile?
Yes, if you have updates or changes to your candidacy since your last correspondence with the school it would be appropriate to send a letter (these changes include promotions, job changes, completion of courses, etc.)
2. Can I tell them that I have an offer from two different schools, which I am required to accept with in a stipulated time?
This won't help you get off the list any quicker and it may actually have the reverse result and cause them to release you from the list (deny you).
3. I had already sent some additional information to them in the past. Can I ask a colleague/Supervisor to send additional recommendation letter? Do I have to check with them regarding sending an additional letter.
You can certainly have an additional recommendation letter sent on your behalf. Since it sounds like there aren't any particular issues with your candidacy, it might be best if this recommendation came from an alumni who could attest to your strong fit with the program. Simply submitting an additional recommendation on your overall strengths likely won't sway the adcom since they have already told you that you are a solid candidate and this is simply a waiting game.
4. I am due to get promoted as an Assistant Manager on 1st March, but it has not been released yet. Can I talk about this in the essay?
Yes, this is a valid reason to send the letter. You should outline your new/additional responsibilities and how it will better prepare you for matriculation in the fall.
Best,
Stacey

Thank you so much for the detailed response Stacey! Thanks for your wishes too!
I have also been invited to attend the Scholarship weekend at Simon starting 30th March. It is an event where select few admitted studenst are given an opportunity to compete for extra scholarships and named fellowships.
I want to write to Goizuetac about all this because I want them to know that they are my top school and I am willing to pass over my acceptance at all other schools. Also, as I only have limited time to accept the offer at Simon, I do not think I have much choice.
Any suggestions here?
Best,
Shajji

Congrats on the scholarship weekend invitation! However, I still think that writing all this in a letter to Goizueta is risky. They could very well interpret this the wrong way and simply release you from the waitlist. While this isn't ideal, many in your situation often give the deposit at the school of acceptance and then forfeit it if they get into their top choice school. I'm not one to advocate throwing money away, but by putting down a deposit at Simon you will have the security you need to wait out the decision from Goizueta.

Congrats! This is fantastic news. Both are great programs. Choose the one the "fits" best - you'll get a great education at either one. Now that you're in you can tell Goizueta about the scholarship and see what they say - it's rare to get scholarship when admitted from the waitlist, but it's worth a try!
