Option A.This is the correct answer as if correctly satisfy verb tenses, parallelism and sentence construction.

Option B.
'depicted' this is not supposed to be in past tense. This is why option A is chosen over this option. Also, the use of 'in films' proper word should have been just 'films'

Option C.
America West' and coyotes are supposed to be placed at close par that separating them as done in this option. Therefore this option is not correct.

Option D.
'as if they were' this does not explain any meaningful thing about the sentence thus it is not needed and does not make sentence concise.

Option E.
'as' over 'to be' this will be used to eliminate this sentence. As far as this sentence is concerned 'as' will be considered over 'to be'
