Which of the following best completes the passage below?
A primary factor in perpetuating the low salaries of women workers has been their segregation in the so-called pink-collar occupations, such as nursing, teaching, library science, and secretarial work. Partly because these jobs have traditionally been held by women, their salary levels have been depressed, and, despite increased attempts to unionize these workers in recent years, their pay continues to lag. Moreover, although a large percentage of women than ever before are now entering and remaining in the job market, most continue to gravitate toward the pink-collar fields, despite the lower salaries. It seems clear, therefore, that if the average salaries of women workers are to approach those of men, ______
(A) labor unions must redouble their efforts to improve the lot of working women
(B) society’s perception of pink-collar jobs as less important and less demanding than other jobs must be changed
(C) more men must be encouraged to enter fields traditionally occupied by women
(D) the number of jobs in the pink-collar fields relative to the size of the work force as a whole must be markedly increased
(E) more women must enter occupations other than those traditionally reserved for them
A primary factor

IMO E
Women's average salary is low because they are restricted to low-pay pink collar jobs.
A) labor unions must redouble their efforts to improve the lot of working women
Not in line with the reasoning
(B) society’s perception of pink-collar jobs as less important and less demanding than other jobs must be changed
Not in line with the reasoning, but tempting
(C) more men must be encouraged to enter fields traditionally occupied by women
Even their salary will come down, Illogical
(D) the number of jobs in the pink-collar fields relative to the size of the work force as a whole must be markedly increased
Increase in no of jobs will further dec salaries in pink-collar jobs
(E) more women must enter occupations other than thos
e traditionally reserved for them
Follows line of reasoning , If women enter other high paying fields dominated by men, their av salary will increase

I feel the answer is C.
"Partly because these jobs have traditionally been held by women, their salary levels have been depressed, .."
So if more men comes into pink color job industry, naturally the wages will go up..

the OA: E
I think that woman workers salary still be depressed. (comparing with man worker in same post)
so that most women still come to works as pink-collar jobs ( nursing, teaching, ...)

"Moreover, although a large percentage of women than ever before are now entering and remaining in the job market, most continue to gravitate toward the pink-collar fields, despite the lower salaries. " ->>>>This argument allude to the fact that the demand for the pink-collar jobs are not less as more and more women are entering this field. So,this makes the option as invalid.
And E is more appropriate in that sense which suggests to diversify the occupation available for women. This will increase the average salary of women.

I was torn apart between B and E and I chose B, Can someone please explain?
Imagine a salary change with the change in people's perception.....
