823. The Rorschzch test is gaining new respect as a diagnostic tool because it takes only one hour to expose behavior and thought processes that may be unlikely to emerge in other procedures or weeks of ordinary interviewing.
(A) that may be unlikely to emerge in other procedures or weeks of ordinary interviewing
(B) whose emergence is unlikely in other procedures or weeks of ordinary interviews
(C) that might not emerge in other procedures or in weeks of ordinary interviews
(D) that may not emerge under other procedures or weeks of ordinary interviews
(E) unlikely not to emerge during weeks of ordinary interviewing or in other procedures

OA is C. Can somebody explain the usage of might here?

Most of the times may and might are interchangeable, though, literally might is the past tense of may.

this question, i think checks us on parallelism rather than may/might. In C, the structure is 'emerge IN x or IN y' which is correct....

IMO C
Approach:

**A restricative clause is needed in the later part of the sentence.

So down to A C and D
(A) that may be unlikely to emerge in other procedures or weeks of ordinary interviewing- may and unlikely are redundant : Weeks of ordinary interviewing is awkward.

(C) that might not emerge in other procedures or in weeks of ordinary interviews- Parallel and conveys the meanings properly.

(D) that may not emerge under other procedures or weeks of ordinary interviews-emerge under procedure or under weeks ??? -nonsensical

May and Might essentially convey the same meaning. Also might is more appropriate for past tense and May for present
