fourth try?? Really painful

by JJ31 » Mon Jul 25, 2011 12:50 pm
I did not keep a break down of my first two official GMAT attempts, but I scored 550 and 540.
I took the gmat last week after 2 months of studying with MGMAT--- and scored 460 (Q35 and V20). Very frustrating as my gmat prep exams were 620 (Q42 and V33) and 630 (Q41 and V35) my last GMAT
By the way my Manhattan GMAT test scores were:
620 (Q42 and V33)
680 (Q43 and V39)
630 (Q43 and V33)

The reason I took the test for a third time was because one of the highly ranked B schools asked me to retake the gmat and score above 70 percentile for each section of the exam and plus I really expected to see 650 plus score on the exam because I felt I made a number of careless errors on the GMAT prep exam. To be honest maybe the pressure got to me because I felt like I was zooming through the exam. The main two issues I remember with the official exam is that I could not answer the first quant question and then all of a sudden I had no idea how to answer the sentence correction questions. Sorry one more issue was I felt the Quant section was easy (nothing new though because in the GMAT prep exams I also felt the quant questions were easy.

I still have about 2 months before the B school would like my gmat score. My question is what should I do to replicate my practice tests in the REAL exam? Do you think I should watch all my MGMAT online videos I still have access too? Any advice would be appreciated because I am really stuck on what the next plan of attack should be.
Sorry I hope my post makes sense and I think there should be a "I did not beat the GMAT forum too" or a "retake forum".

what was the first question in math section? try to remember that first question and why you delayed the solution? you will need to know what exactly happened in exam

sentence correction questions require two things - understanding of meaning, i.e. how the idea is expressed/conveyed and grammatical structure of the sentence

study the MGMAT challenge questions and pace yourself

your quant 43 indicates solid foundation in math concepts, you just need to rectify approach to 700+ questions
Success doesn't come overnight!

I remember the first question and from there it was down hill. I will try and look at some lessons online and see if i can improve my score. Good luck in your exam too.

I will double check SC correction and go through Quants again.
