by jakery12 » Mon Mar 30, 2009 11:12 am
Hey, quick question.... i just took gmat today... got 700, have 3.2gpa from USC, work for large us bank, involved in a few volunteer organizations where i take a leadership role, aiming for top 5, do i need to take gmat again and get 720+, or will me profile and strong application be enough?

Dear jakery12,

Perhaps. Your 700 is a great score and definitely close to the average for a top 10 program. Your GPA is pretty average at a 3.2. I think you should look at how you did in your quantitative coursework. With a raw quant score at 42, that is a little low for many of these schools who are looking for a raw quant score above 45. If you did well (i.e., A's) in your quant coursework, then you might be fine with your current score. If you did not perform well in your quant coursework, then you might consider taking it again to see if you can pull up the quant score. You have some time and it is very common to take the test at least twice.

Good luck,
Lisa
