540 - is it worth for the 2+2 program of harvard

Dear All,

I just gave my gmat and didnt score dat well, though i had always got a 550 wid kaplan, but people said u can always expect a 100 more( opp in ma case , i must say )

have any body heard about the 2+2 program by Harvard. Is anybody applying dere frm here? What do u guys think of my chances?
My acads add up to distinction, very strong extra curricular and have 2 full time (2 months each) and 1 part time(2+years of exp) in work.

Are applications wid less score not viewed by the admin dept??? How much does gmat influence d final decision and plus is 540 enuf?????

I don't know the specifics of Harvard's 2+2 program, but I do know that a 540 is well below Harvard's average.

I took the test a while back and got 460 and have been practicing diligently and today scored a 690 on a PPREP test. Your score and chances of getting into a top school will improve if you put towards enough time and effor to improve you're GMAT score. Also, I would keep in mind that the GMAT is the one thing at this point you can control and you are not penalized for taking it multiple times. I also took the Kaplan course and found that it did little to nothing to help me.

I've learned a lot about myself just going through the application process and I feel like I have gained considerable skill applying to MBA programs which I'll use in a few years, in the likely event I don't get into 2+2. There's nothing like working some of the kinks out of your strategy a few years early!

Apply, gain some knowledge, retake the GMAT down the road and you'll be well prepared for the typical MBA application route. Plus, we have no idea who they're looking for, so even if you have a 0.05% chance of getting in...TAKE IT!

I don't want to discourage anyone from applying. But a 540 isn't going to cut it for applications to Harvard B-school. Apps take a lot of time, and cost money. And unless you cured cancer, or own your own company, I don't think Harvard is going to be real psyched on an application that is 160 points below its mean GMAT.

Unfortunately, you are going to need to at least get close to the range of scores that will be acceptable at Harvard to get into Harvard. Anything can happen, but I think you are probably wasting your time applying with a score so far below the school average. Your best shot is to study more and bring your score up to at least 650 or above.

Hey dude,
You know GMAT is important in determining a students performance in the 1st yer of MBA, however, this 2+2 course is designed specifically for undergrads, hence I suppose, there will be several other parameters for selecting the same. It may please you to hear that I have scored lesser than you have and still applied. I am from calcutta, 2nd year student of BBA. I have a question for you, but. How did you, being an undergrad student, manage to acquire 2 years of work experience ? This puts you at an advantage, but I want to know how you did it ? : P best of luck.

I dont want to be a Debbie Downer but your chances with a 540 are virtually impossible. Judging by your name, I am assuming you are Indian (if not, apologies). It is a known fact that there are sooooooooooo many Indians who take the GMAT and score very very very high (730+) and you will certainly be compared to them (whether or not its fair, it still happens). Since 2+2 is such a selective program, you do not have much working in your favor.
