You can do this with variables, but it's easiest to plug-in real numbers.

Assume that the total number of units produced was 60.

Machine K produced 1/4 of the total (15 units) in 3 hours, which equals 5 units per hour.

Together, the two machines produced 3/4 (45 units) in 6 hours.

In 6 hours, Machine K produced 5*6 = 30 units.

Thus, Machine M produced 15 units in 6 hours, or 2.5 units per hour.

To produce 60 units, it would take Machine M 60/2.5 = 24 hours.

Answer D.
