I would choose E for Q29 and D for Q39

Explanation for 29
-------------------------

"AM-I is one of the many new satellites that are ........... ". Here that refers to satellites. Here the contenders are D and E, of which E is better as D is wordy.

Explanation for 39
-------------------------

A - "It" has no distinct referent
B - Energy is compared to "Germany"
C - Comparisions are not parallel here. "Over 75% of energy produced... " and "whereas nuclear power ........... " is not parallel construction.
D - Correct. The percentage of energy is compared correctly here.
E - "it" has no distinct referent

Let me know if i am wrong somewhere.

Agree with Mani for Q 29. But I am not sure why A cannot be the answer for Q 39. The "it here, in my opinion, has a clear reference to the energy derived from nuclear power. I see no ambiguity in the use of it.

In my opinion, "It" can only refer to a simple noun (Subject or an object).

But here "It" refers to a phrase "Energy derived from nuclear power". That is the reason why i rejected A.

Hmmm..I have to agree with that assessment. Thanks for pointing out the error. Also, I checked around to confirm that we are in deed looking at the right thing and found this convincing answer: https://www.urch.com/forums/gmat-senten ... rance.html

Agree with mani
E and D

Q 29
'Satellites' is a plural subject, so 'Satellite that are' and 'Satellites, which are'
should be correct. Rule out A and B.
'effort to' is the correct usage here. Rule out C and D.
D can also be ruled our for one more reason. 'an effort for 15 years that has subjected...'. The part of sentence after that modifies 15 years, which is obviously not intended.
Correct answer is E.

Q39
D follows the perfect parallel construction. All other answer choices fail to do so. There can be no better explanation.
Shahid E
