If 2 carpenters can build 2 desks in 2.5 hours, then in 2.5 hours, 4 carpenters can build 4 desks, since twice the number of carpenters will accomplish twice the amount of work.The Jock wrote:Two carpenters, working in the same pace, can build 2 desks in two hours and a half. Now we can set up the following proportion:
4 desks/2.5 hours = x desks/4 hours
4/2.5 = x/4
x = 16/2.5 = 6.4.
The correct answer is E.
