First I would like to thank you for the wonderful insights that you have been provising through this brilliant forum (I prefer to call it the bible of GMAT).
I am an Computer Engineer from India and would like to take up my MBA in the United States for Fall 2010. I will quickly run you through my profile.
Education
I have done my Computer Enginnering from Mumbai University (One of the most reputed one after IIT in India). I have secured a first class (67%) in the final year. I am sorry that I could not convert it into GPA since there is no grading system currently in place. Also I have been a high scoring student prior to that.
Work Experience
I have been working in Capgemini from July 2007 as an associate consultant. the project which I am currently working on has given me a lot of exposure to the reporting of the company at the top level. Also I have been invovled in 2 projects simultaneously (Time management u bet) and my work has been quite appreciated by my Mangers. Also expecting a promotion in June
Extra Cirricular
The most strong point I must say. I was the chaiperson of a IEEE student chapter in my college and under my leadership the society saw grew by leaps and bounds in the positive direction. Also headed the committee that launched the first ever technical festival of the college.
Took an initiative and took students for Industrial visits by directly contacting the companies.
Also have undertaken loads of additional responsibilities in the work place. Eg. Managing the Fundoo Friday team. (Conducts various cultural events in the work place.)
Part of the college and Capemini cricket team.
Business
Have started a small time firm in website making with couple of friends. Although in growing stages the firm has got hold of 3-4 clients already.
Assumptions (GMAT)
GMAT (date taken 3rd Aug, 2009) expecting in the range of 700-730 (prety confident of reaching there).
Now my queries
1.) After going throught the profile, what would you think of my chances in top 50 B schools in US?
2.) What work experience is counted by the B Schools? The one at time of applying (should be 1 year) or the one at the time of joining (should be 2 years)? Please help me as I am very confused at this point.
3.) Does it make sense to deffer the process by one more year? I know more the work ex better are the chances but I would seriously like to go this year.
