Is my testing center still open?

by pscher31 » Thu Aug 15, 2013 1:44 am
Hello,

I am currently living in Uganda and have my exam scheduled for 8/28. My testing center is located at a university that has been recently closed due to rioting and protests. Is there any way to check if the testing center will remain open despite the protests? I was not provided with a telephone number. If the testing center is closed, will I be refunded?

Makerere University
College of Computing and Information Sciences
P.O.BOX 7062, Kampala-Uganda
Plot 56, University Road

I appreciate your assistance.

Hello, pscher31. I contacted Pearson Vue for you and was told your test center is temporarily closed. You should have been contacted by Pearson Vue directly for this. Please send an email to [email protected] with your full name, registration ID and contact information and we will have someone from Pearson Vue contact you to discuss your refund and/or rescheduling options.

Thank you.

Hi Rebecca,

I sent the email yesterday, no contact yet from Pearson Vue.

Thanks,

Wow pscher31 - as if preparing bschool applications wasn't stressful enough! :-) Hope you stay safe in the upheaval.

And if your GMAT score doesn't turn out quite as you expected, well... can't say we've ever heard of a better excuse for a difficult performance on the test! We can just see the optional essay now: "I was studying for the GMAT in July 2013 and at the time, there were protests and rioting..."

So much craziness in the world. Hope it all calms down soon.

Sorry for the OT post but couldn't let this go by uncommented.

Hi Rebecca,

Someone from PV reached out finally. I found a contact number for the testing center and they said they will be open to administer the exam, however PV asked me to reschedule. I'm hearing conflicting things and want to get this straight as I have to travel 9hrs to get to the testing center and don't want to make the journey if I won't be able to take the exam. How best can I clear this up?

Thanks,

Patrick

Thanks for letting us know about the confusion. I have contacted Pearson Vue for you and asked them to get back in touch to clarify things. Our records still indicate that the test center is not administering GMAT exams at this time. It is possible the test center is still administering other exams and is still open, which could have created the confusion.

Please let me know if you do not hear back from Pearson Vue.
