The GMAT Verbal section has three kinds of questions: sentence correction (grammar), critical reasoning, and reading comprehension.

You dont have 2 muggup GRE wordlist a redbook 'wordpower made easy ' by norman lewis is good though. .

BTW,for GMAT teast,though it has not direct test for vocabulary,I think at least 7000 vocabulary is needed for you comprehension.right?

There isn't a specific number of vocabulary words you need to have for the GMAT--it's more about having a decent comprehension of English as well as a familiarity of GMAT English grammar.

As most have mentioned vocabulary isn't directly tested however, obviously increasing your vocabulary through reading articles and books would be pivotal towards success in verbal.
