Vocabulary

Does any part of the verbal section test you on vocabulary? If so, whats the best way to prepare? thanks.

Vocabulary is not tested on the GMAT!

The GMAT Verbal section has three kinds of questions: sentence correction (grammar), critical reasoning, and reading comprehension.

You dont have 2 muggup GRE wordlist a redbook 'wordpower made easy ' by norman lewis is good though. .:)

hello folks,I am a green hand here,I will try my best to learn from all of you.
BTW,for GMAT teast,though it has not direct test for vocabulary,I think at least 7000 vocabulary is needed for you comprehension.right?

There isn't a specific number of vocabulary words you need to have for the GMAT--it's more about having a decent comprehension of English as well as a familiarity of GMAT English grammar.

Hi,
I faced the same issue too.
And so, I focussed on learning as many words as possible and also read a lot of newspapers, magazines, etc.
And, most importantly, I kept practicing as much as I could.
I used the Vocab App which helped me a lot. Do check it out.

GMAT doesn't test vocabulary, but if you are non-native speaker, then it's better to improve your vocabulary.

While there isn't a direct test for vocabulary, we wouldn't go far if we don't even understand the words in the question right?

As most have mentioned vocabulary isn't directly tested however, obviously increasing your vocabulary through reading articles and books would be pivotal towards success in verbal.
