I just took the GMAT today and scored a 680. I was doing extremely well on practice tests and consistently kept getting over 700 on all the Princeton Review tests and on the GMAT Prep tests. Unfortunately I didn't do so well on game day...the verbal especially got to me.
I was aiming for a higher score because I want to go to Harvard, Stanford, Wharton, MIT or Booth. I think it will be difficult with a 680 but I will still try. I know this is supposed to be I Just Beat The GMAT but I figured I should share my experience.

hey there...i can completely identify with your story I too had a 680(Q 49 V 33)in Nov 2011..but the school i wanted to go for, takes the best score of all attempts so I am planning a retake. 680 is a good score, really...you will be in leauge with the 10% of the MBA class who made up for the score in other areas of the application. I had plenty of time at hand till next fall session, so I decided to give it a try. Best of luck with the applications hope you get a great school

Hey guys thanks. I don't plan on retaking as I have a lot of work commitments and don't think I'll have the time to invest in retaking to improve my score. It really is a bummer but I am hoping to bank on the rest of my application. I was the valedictorian of my university out of 400 graduates (3.9 GPA) and am a management consultant with international work experience so I hope with a 680 my application is still considered strong.
