Fiction book, pls, help, expert

Some persons in gmatclub forum recommend to read fiction books to sharpen reading skills for reading section. I do not know about this. Is this time consuming or not? anyone with experience of this, pls, help us

I have barely read about 2-3 fiction books in my life, but I had no difficulty in doing the verbal section in the GMAT I took a few years ago. I think reading comprehensions simply test your understanding of a passage, rather than focusing on difficult grammar.
Having said that, ofcourse, the more you read the better
