Accepted into Cornell-Queens eMBA

by Kelly McDonald » Thu Jan 10, 2008 5:41 pm
Age: 33
Undergrad: Comp Sci (1998)
Experience: 7 Years, Software Development, Support Team Lead, EBC Technical Presenter, Corporate Leadership Development Program Participant
GMAT Score: 650 5.5 AWA

I only applied to Cornell-Queens as it seemed to offer the best of all worlds for me. Its a joint 17 month eMBA program delivered by Cornell and Queen's University in Canada. I can continue to work while in the program and I won't need to move. Best of all I'll end up with an MBA from both Queen's (One of Canada's top business schools) and from the Johnson School at Cornell (rated between 9 and 14 in the US depending on the survey).

That's an awesome feeling, isn't it? Applying only to one place and getting in at your ideal school. Obviously your situation was a lot better thought out, though. I simply ran out of time. Have fun at Cornell, and avoid that bridge where suicides apparently occur a lot.

I've been extremely happy with the program so far. It is a lot of work, but I've been fortunate that my team has been extremely strong. The classes have been a great balance of theory and practical application, and with the exception of one course I've been very happy with the professors and content.

I'm reviewing the options for eMBA and am very curious how things played out for you Kelly. Any details about difficulties and the reasoning is most important. Thank you.

Kelly let me first start off by saying CONGRATULATIONS! I love hearing stories of people getting into the schools of their choices! It seems as though there are many people inquiring about EMBA's. Can you share why you decided to do an EMBA vs. MBA?
