Verbal score in GMATPrep

by givemeanid » Sat Aug 25, 2007 2:20 pm
Stacey/Amy/someone, in GMATPrep, I got a scaled score of 45 in Verbal after getting 37 correct out of 41. The only questions I got incorrect were 6, 12, 14 and 32.

Now, if the scoring algorithm is adaptive, shouldn't the scaled score be higher than 45? Or do you need all 41 correct to get that elusive 51 in Verbal?

Remember that 45 corresponds to the 98th percentile, so a 45 Verbal score is comparable to a 50 Quant score. I would imagine that to get a 51V, you would need to make no more than 1 mistake in the GMAT. In GMATPrep, you need to answer all the verbal questions correctly. I think 51V corresponds to the 99.8 or 99.9 percentile

Good news- a 51Q 45V would land you a 770 or 780!
