There are two exceptions to this rule.
In other words, there are two cases in which telomerase is PRESENT in adults:
1. It is present in adult BONE MARROW (since even in adults, bone marrow cells continually divide to replace old cells).
2. It is present in adult CANCERS (because their cells are rapidly dividing).
