In the xy-plane, if the k line is negative slope and passes through the point (-5,r), is the x-intercept of line k positive?

1) The slope of line k is -5.
2) r > 0.

The OA is E.

Please, can any expert assist me with this PS question? I don't have it clear and I appreciate if any explain it for me. Thanks.

Many slope problems are best solved by DRAWING.

Statement 1: Slope = -5
Statement 2: When x = -5, r > 0

Both statements are satisfied by the following cases:

Case 1:
Image
Here, the x-intercept is negative.

Case 2:
Image
Here, the x-intercept is positive.

Thus, the two statements combined are INSUFFICIENT.

The correct answer is E.
