If n is positive, is n an integer?

(1) 3n is an integer
(2) n < n^2

Is statement 2 needed in this?

Both statements are satisfied by n=2 and n=4/3.
Since n is an integer in the first case but NOT an integer in the second case, the two statements combined are INSUFFICIENT.

The correct answer is E.
