One of the most important decisions for most people experiencing being relocated for work is if to purchase a home immediately.

(A) being relocated for work is if to purchase

(B) being relocated for work is whether they should be purchasing

(C) being relocated for work is whether or not they purchase

(D) relocation for work is if to purchase

(E) relocation for work is whether to purchase

The OA is E.

Why the option D is wrong?

Hi Vincen,

We wouldn't use "if" in this way on the GMAT.

"If" = a hypothetical situation

For example, "If I were the Queen of the Universe, everyone would get Fridays off."

If the Meaning is a choice between two things, "whether" conveys that idea. The Meaning is the choice between purchasing a home and not purchasing home.
