Profile Evaluation at gmat score of 670

by arsh11dec » Tue Jul 05, 2016 10:37 am
Hi Experts,

I got my gmat score today, a very disappointing 670 (Q49,V33)IR-4/AW-4. I am an Indian girl-chemical engineer, close to 3.5 years of experience as a process engineer in oil and gas sector.
Work experience: I am a Chemical engineer and I have been working with a top company in oil and gas sector . As a design engineer I am currently in a technical role and I am involved in process designing of refineries. I have been working on both Indian and international refineries designs. As a design engineer in my present role I am required to do process designing and then coordinate with several equipments departments ensuring that equipments are designed for the process conditions. I have been representing my company in customer meetings justifying the stance on the design, making customer understand the design that is being offered to them.
I want to do MBA in operations or supply chain management preferably from US and pursue my career thereafter.

I have done B.E Chemical from one of the oldest and renowned college in India.

I have been an active participant in co-curricular activities.

Could you please advise me what are the good universities for supply chain/operations that i can target with above profile.

Thanks,
xyz

Hey there xyz ;),

So, the good news is that you are young and female and in a very good industry. Your GMAT score is as you realize a bit low, but why worry? And why rush? Take your time to RETAKE!!! I am sure you can do better, and with a higher GMAT score the schools you can apply to will also be better.

Here's an article that considers some of the thoughts about retaking or not, focused specifically on Indian candidates: https://admissionado.com/mba/to-retake-o ... n=mba_blog

Thank you for your positive response. I have been trying to shoot above 700 but some how due to my office commitments i am not able to give more time. I may take gmat again but as far as 1st round of applications are concerned i will have to apply with this score. Could you please guide me with some colleges that i can look at with this score. It will be immense help and i will get a direction to start with.

Thanks a lot.:)

The thing is that at this point the colleges you could get into are likely not that impressive, say ranked 25-50. Which is why my suggestion is that you do NOT rush. That you pace yourself, retake your GMAT and apply NEXT year. There's no advantage to going to a less good MBA program than you can get into, especially given how young you are.
