Hi Vikram, actually you can easily get the reply from a bit of Google search :D but i will try to answer it v briefly here:

Strategy Consulting: a niche subset of management consulting; strategy con would help clients to chart growth strategy, future roadmap, identify problems in org, change in org structure, acquisitions/removals, rationalising products or services etc. Companies would be Mc Kinsey, Bain @ Co etc

Management Consulting: more geenric, covers diverse things like HR consulting, operations consulting, marketing consulting etc

So bascially strategy consulting is a specialised subset of management consulting.

Hope this answers.

Now a question of my own if you please. I just got an admissions offer from Richard Ivey MBA for the Spring 2013 session. I have a GMAT score of 730 and hadnt really researched this college properly.

Just wantted to know if Ivey is really worth the investment in terms of ROI and getting a great career path, growth, respect in the industry etc (initially, later it depends on us i know).

The only other college I had applied to was CBS but i didnt get selected there :(

Please let me know

Rgds,
Confused

Hi confused123,

As you have already applied to Richard Ivey, I am sure that you know that it is the best school for consulting aspirants in canada...
but the important thing to note is that it is a 1 year course..
so in case you are planning to switch careers, it would be very difficult.
but if you are already in consulting and aiming for a jump, then you can think of it...
also, there are not many strategy consulting opportunities in canada as most of the companies are US based and they would hire US b-school graduates ... so it will be a difficult choice...
gr8 college, but think about future options... especially consulting career options in canada

Though this guy doesnt really go into your question, he posts some pretty decent stuff about his experiences in consulting - including how to get in via a non-MBA path...
