Finding School's Strengths

by bmy.junk » Thu Jul 13, 2006 9:11 am
I've read in several places that when admission committees review applications, they must consider whether the candidate will be a good "fit" in their program. Clearly this makes sense because each of the top business schools has its own strengths and it wants to have an incoming class that encourages those strengths.

Has anyone in this community found an effective way of determining what some of the top business schools are best known for? For example, US News provides “Speciality” rankings in Accounting, Finance, etc. Aside from this, I’m interested in learning about other characteristics that makes each business school great (i.e. extensive alumni network, supportive career center, distinct program requirements). Has anyone visited any websites detailing this type of information?

By the way, I’m looking at just 4 schools right now: Berkeley, UCLA, Michigan, and NYU. However, I’m certainly interested in learning more about programs at other schools as well.
