Feedback on study plan

by gmat_best-shot » Sat Aug 09, 2008 9:29 am
Hi everyone,
My test date is on Sep 11th and I am aiming for 720+ and AWA 5+.

Here are the details of my first diagnostic attempt with GMAT prep test 2 taken yesterday.

Total score 640.

AWA: Did not attempt.

Verbal: 40
9/41 incorrect:
1. CR - 3. Did not read all the choices.
2. RC - 2.
3. SC - 5. Ok. This was expected as I know I have to review SC theory.

Quant: 38
20/37 incorrect:
1. DS - 11. 3 of them avoidable if I had understood the question correctly.
2. Probability - 1
3. Arithmetic - 5
4. Geometry - 1

My timing was a little off since I had to hurry through the last three questions.

Proposed plan assuming 4 hours study time on weekdays and 6 hours on weekends:

9th - 13th Aug - Verbal OG11 concepts especially sentence completion. AWA study.
15th - 20th Aug - Verbal OG11 practice.
4th Aug - MGMAT online test and review.
21st - 27th Aug - Quant OG11 concepts especially data sufficiency.
28th - 3rd Aug - Quant OG11 practice.
9th Aug - GMAT prep test 1 and review.
5th - 8th Aug - AWA practice.

10th - Hopefully relaxed overall review.

I have Princeton 07 materials but am not sure what sections are most useful to GMAT preparation and how closely its CAT resembles the actual test.

Thanks..

Four hours a day on weekdays might be a bit too much, esp if you work full-time, but otherwise your strategy and materials list sound good.
