The idiom construct is, so X that Y
Technically only E qualifies.
D comes close too (although without the use of the idiom construct), but the movement of the word only alters the meaning of the sentence.
It seems to suggest that the sole purpose of the Mormons is to "only" account for half of the population, which is incorrect in terms of the context of the q.

Dear experts,
is in the the last sentence not the word "it" missing? When I read E I thought half of what???
And is A only wrong because of the word "such"? (cause the idiom seems correct: so X...that Y...)
Thanks!
