Evaluation Challenge

by trente » Tue Sep 18, 2012 4:20 pm
Hi,

I am a 28 year old Hispanic Male from Southern California, below you'll find my profile. I'm in the process of deciding which schools to apply to but am having trouble deciding where I will be a good candidate given my low GPA. I'm hoping the rest of my profile and my GMAT score will help mitigate that performance. With a crooked GPA and GMAT score, I don't think I can reliably gauge the outlook on my own. Would Fuqua/Ross/Darden be out of the question? If so, what are some more reasonable target schools?

Academics

GMAT 720 (44v, 46Q)

2.5 GPA, Economics Princeton (4 Year Varsity Sport, and 15 hr/week working)

Took one year off after graduation to pursue sport professionally, then began career.

Work History: 5 Years working in corporate finance in pharmaceuticals industry. Have progressed in seniority though I have changed companies twice to achieve promotions. I am now a Senior Analyst for Latin America region.(fluent english, spanish, and proficient portuguese).

Service: 2 years as Exec Committee member for an organization serves at risk students at under-performing schools. My role is twofold, to serve as a mentor and to raise funds for the organization. Over two years, have organized events to increase mentor memberships and donations.

Thanks,

Hi trente,

Thanks for posting. You do have a strong candidacy, although your GPA is an area you will need to address on your application. I recommend you read this case study of a candidate with a sub 3.0 GPA who was accepted into a top business school:

Your undergraduate record is something an admissions team will consider, however it is also an area you can address. If you'd like, we provide free 30 minute phone consultations here: https://www.stacyblackman.com/contact/

We also have school specific advice with free tips here:

Fuqua: https://www.stacyblackman.com/business-s ... uke-fuqua/
Ross: https://www.stacyblackman.com/business-s ... -business/
Darden: https://www.stacyblackman.com/business-s ... -business/

Cheers,

Conrad and the Stacy Blackman Team
