Answer: C

Solution:

Let n = the number of days on which he wrote only 700 words per day. Thus, we see that (n + 7) is the total number of days for the entire assignment. So we can create the equation:

700n + 8500 = 1000(n + 7)

7n + 85 = 10(n + 7)

7n + 85 = 10n + 70

15 = 3n

5 = n

Answer: C
