Hello.

If X is not = -y, is x-y/x+y > 1?

1) x>0
2) y<0

The answer is E. However, I originally thought the answer would be B because &#12288;x-y/x+y > 1&#12288;&#8594;&#12288;x-y> x+1 and when Y is Y<0, it's valid whether X is X<0 or X>0.

BUT, I had a second thought if x-y/x+y > 1&#12288;&#8594;&#12288;x-y> x+1 is possible..... (I am away from math for a long time....now I am not too sure if we can divide both sides in inequality expression )

I agree for inequality question, the first step we should do is rewriting them. your explanation clears out my doubt.
