We are told that the racecar consumes gasoline at the rate of P km per liter.

So P km requires ----- 1 liter
therefore 1 km requires ------ 1/P liters

With this in mind the question becomes easy.

When the speed is Q km/h (Q kilometers traveled per hour), it means that distance traveled in 1 hour is Q km. This is the key to solving part 1. So to find liters used in one hour, find how many liters are required for Q km.

So we know that 1 km requires ------ 1/P liters.
So, Q km requires -------- Q/P liters.
and 40 km requires --------- 40/P liters.

Let me know if this helps :)
