Choosing MBA stream

by pallab_dhara » Mon Jul 10, 2017 4:03 pm
Hi,

I am working as an IT engineer for last 10 years in India. I am planning for an MBA after securing a good score in GMAT. Please let me know if I get a opportunity in a one of the good MBA college, then in 2/1 year MBA do I need to do the MBA on IT/systems or can I change my track to some other stream such as finance/marketing?

Regards,
Pallab Dhara

Dear Pallab,
Well I think if you CAN get a finance or marketing job, go for it!
But usually that is the difficulty!

If you get a good score in your GMAT, you will be able to get into a good school. Now, once you get in, who knows what will happen!

However, stating the goal of wanting to move into Finance from IT is a VERY bad idea. It's not logical and not plausible. Plus everyone wants to do it (it does pay pretty well after all :) )

So I would suggest that for the purposes of your application, YES you come up with an IT track. However once you get in, it will be up to YOU to make whatever change you desire happen.

Anyhow, if you have any further questions, why not shoot us over an email, or drop by for a Free Consultation: https://admissionado.com/free-consultati ... n=mba_blog
