We can let H, M, and P be the price of the hard drive, monitor, and printer, respectively. Based on the information given, we can create the equations:
H + M + P = 2,500,
M + P = (2/3)H,
and
P = M + 100
We can substitute (2/3)H for M + P in the first equation and obtain:
H + (2/3)H = 2,500
3H + 2H = 7,500
5H = 7,500
H = 1,500
So we have M + P = (2/3)(1,500) = 1,000 and hence M = 1,000 - P. Substituting this into the third equation, we have:
P = 1,000 - P + 100
2P = 1,100
P = 550
