How is getting involved in an organization such as Toastmasters International viewed by admissions committees? With the importance of public speaking and presenting, would joining a local Toastmasters or even starting one at my employer be viewed favorably or be a waste of my time?

Best,
Kendall

Hi Kendall,

I would say it would be a small plus; and if the rest of your profile did not show evidence of strong communication skills then it could help a bit more. Overall I'd recommend deciding if you want to do it for YOU, either professionally or personally, and go from there (vs making the decision solely on what the adcomm may think... that way if asked about it you can honestly/genuinely describe why you got involved.) ;)
