I do not see any Admissions consultants reviews on BeatTheGmat. I checked reviews on Gmatclub. All consultants are rated around 5 star! This is unrealistic. Can someone suggest which is the best source to use?

Hi there,
That's a great question! I wondered the same thing when I was applying! (Caveat before I proceed: I am an MBA admissions consultant.) Unfortunately, I discovered that there's really no silver bullet or one-stop shop for finding the right admissions consultant. The relationship you develop with your consultant will be a highly personal one, and as such, the selection process is also highly personal. In other words, a consultant who was a great match for your friend might not be right for you. While you should leverage 3rd party resources like reviews and the forums, my advice to you is to take your time, do your research (check out different admissions consulting firms' websites at the very least), talk to multiple people/firms and when you do, ask the tough questions whose answers are going to help you make the right decision for you. Questions like "How many years of professional experience do you have working with MBA applicants?", "Have you ever worked with an applicant like me?", and "How many clients do you take per round?" are a great place to start.
There are a lot of great consultants out there so it's ultimately up to you (and your budget!) to decide which one is going to be the right partner for your MBA journey.
Best of luck to you! I'm happy to talk further if you'd like. Feel free to drop me a line at [email protected]
Kindly,
Melody

Hi there,
I echo the sentiment above, which is to do your research and speak to a few consultants to see whom you really "click" with (which is why it's great that you're thinking about this now)! Based on my experience, fit is very important when it comes to working with a consultant - not only when it comes to the standard things (like experience/track record, etc.) but also when it comes to working style. You should be really comfortable with the consultant you decide to engage. Would be happy to chat further, if that would be helpful. I can be reached at [email protected] or https://www.ivygroupe.com/contact.
Best,
Shaifali

Hey there,
I totally agree that "fit" is one of the most important factors to consider when looking for a consultant. Take advantage of the free consultation that almost all consultants provide and ask them questions about their working style - for example, if you are more of a jump on a call kinda person and your consultant wants to work exclusively through emails, this might be a disconnect and lead to unnecessary stress during the stressful application time. You also want to look for someone who is willing to take a personal interest in your applications and is able to provide you with critical feedback.
Another great place to look for potential consultants is ask your friends or family in good business schools if they used the services of a consultant and would recommend someone.
Good luck! Feel free to reach out to us for a free consultation - https://www.taterways.com/free-consultation

Hi there! Great point and I echo what Melody said earlier, but also wanted to point you to a post that we added on Quora a while ago that's a fairly candid and transparent overview of admissions consultants and some thoughts on how you can sift through the marketing and figure out what may be best for you. Hope this helps!

It looks like BTG has added that feature since you posted: https://reviews.beatthegmat.com/DHILLONRAVI1983 wrote:I do not see any Admissions consultants reviews on BeatTheGmat.
