the score u get in V & Q is out of 60. ie 60 is the max score.
but dont get into that crap. not at this stage at least.
i took a mock 'QUANT test' once & i answered every q correctly- still i scored 55:-(. i couldnt figure out where did those 5marks go.

i know that. 51 is max. Everyone talks about that.

but then i think the test i am talking about must not been quite standard as it gave me 55 as my Q score.
the test is our very Quant sample (demo) test you get @ www.800score.com it is available freely
you can get it too.

Scales Scores

by Kevin » Mon Aug 21, 2006 6:33 am
Yes, it is a very complicated subject. No one really knows, since the algorithm that GMAC uses to score the GMAT is secret but we do know that 51-60 is the math scaled score for a 99% score.

It could be that it runs from 51 to 60 because of the experimental questions are included or it could be based on a point system when they are distributing the questions (in other words, if you get all the questions correct and the test has to give you a 99% question but the only ones it it's databank are geometry questions yet you are due to get an algebra question, it must give that type of question too you, etc.)
