I feel the answers to 6 & 8 must be D & B respectively whereas the answer key says they are A & E. Can someone elaborate on this?

Talking about first question, this question is about numbers, so you must be looking for something wrong in the statistics given. Here the author is saying that a number 700 means higher danger, but it needs to be compared with the number of people who traveled by air. If that number is very high this year than previous year then may be the number 700 seem quite less than the number of accident previous year.
So A weakens the arguement.

In D, by introducing other modes of transportation you are going outside the scope of the argument. The argument speaks only about the danger in air travel last vs danger in air travel this year

For the second one, at first thought I too selected B as correct answer but after a deep thought came out with this understanding.

B says that the exercise is mental as well as physical activity, and by saying this, its going out of scope. A mental activity must be performed by mind, and argument says that the exercise is performed by the body so its not a mental activity, its only a physical activity
