Looking for SPAM Monitors

by beatthegmat » Sun Mar 11, 2007 12:14 am
Hi Folks:

I absolutely love running this GMAT Forum, but one of the hardest parts of the job is controlling SPAM. Nothing makes me cringe more than waking up in the morning, or coming back from a long day of work, and finding a bunch of SPAM posts.

I'm looking for a few volunteers from this community to serve as SPAM monitors. Your job would be to collect info on SPAMMERS when post are made, report the info to me (I have a special place on the wiki for this), and immediately delete the SPAM post--I'll provide more details to folks who volunteer.

It would be great if a few people from India as well as the United States volunteered. I'd like to have a few monitors watching the site throughout a 24-hr period.

I really appreciate your help in this fight. I know that there are tons of people out there who care about this amazing GMAT & MBA community service project as much as I do, and I want to make sure our members always get the best experience out of this site--we need to be more effective about SPAM management.

Thanks again! Shoot me a PM or reply to this thread if you are interested.

One more thing that I'd like to mention: I'd like to thank aim-wsc (Johny) for being the primary SPAM monitor for this site over the last several weeks. He first suggested taking on this role to me, and he's done an excellent job!

Thanks man!

Wow, that was one of the worst SPAM attacks this board had seen this morning.

I really could use some help!

I'm happy to announce to the forum that we have new Monitors on board.
They are-
ajith

gabriel

they'll monitor the site and delete spamposts along with the other tasks of Monitor.

Dear monitor-brothers,

I wont be online for next few days... ~7-8 days and again for next 10-12 days.

I think Admin has found out some cool trick to keep spams away 8) (pre-spam campaign like they had in "minority report ;) )
or maybe other monitors are keeping watch on the site 24X7 and removing spams before I could spot any.

Anyway guys keep Rocking da place 8)
c ya.
