GMAT Score:700
Hi Everyone,

I took the GMAT today and scored 700 with Q 50 and V 34. This was my second attempt to GMAT and I improved from 650 to 700. My previous attempt was in year 2009.

Edit - 7th Nov, 2011 : I received my official score. I got 5.5 in essays, this makes my score -
700 ( 50/34/5.5)

Although this is not a very good score to boast off, I am ok with this score as of now. About GMAT exam - I found several new and interesting things -

1) I found 1-2 SC questions testing Idioms, but tested idioms were quite simple.
2) RC is hell lot of difficult now a days. I was stunned by 2 RC passages. One was almost 70-80 lines long. Out of 14 RC question, 12 questions were asking - The passage mentions which of the following ? OR The passage mentions all of the following except ?
3) All CR questions were mainly Flaw, Weakening, Strengthening, and assumptions.
4) Math was quite ok except few questions. In one question, Question asked me calculate one property of cone without giving its formula. I was surprised.

Overall If I have to rate difficulty wise from most difficult to least difficult -
RC > PS (Geometry) > DS (Inequalities) > CR (Assumptions) > SC (those big SC with everything underlined)

I would really appreciate if some expert can help me to evaluate my profile, below is the brief summary -

1) B.Tech From a private college in India ( GPA- 4.0)
2) Graduate diploma in Banking from LSE (London school of economics) (GPA- 3.5)
3) 5 yrs of work experience including 4.5 years onsite experience.
4) I also have 2 IT certifications.
5) I am good in arts and creative things. Have won more than 50 art competitions. one good example is the my pic in beat the gmat profile. I made this painting. :)

I am looking for top tier B-School, which normally look for 730+.

Thanks,

700 is not average for sure. Given your profile I am sure you this score should suffice.

700 is a good score if you can make up good with your essays, I am sure you can get in the top 5.
700 is just a barrier, No one will have time to judge each application they just divide applications based on >700 and <700. You can get the call but what happens next is what matters the most.
First take: 640 (50M, 27V) - RC needs 300% improvement
Second take: coming soon..
