GMAT Strategy

Hi albertoduro1xx,

You might find it beneficial to go back-and-forth between Quant and Verbal (as opposed to trying to do all the Quant first, then all the Verbal) - in this way, you'll develop skills concurrently on both sections of the Test and you'll be less likely to 'lose' skills that you develop early on. To that same end, you should plan on taking FULL-length practice CATs at regular intervals (1 every 1-2 weeks), even though you'll be seeing some material that you haven't technically trained for. The early exposure to the material will help you to more easily incorporate the lessons and tactics later on. As you progress, there will be subjects that you'll need to spend extra time on, and you'll adjust your schedule accordingly.

In addition to our strategy guides, we also offer a Guided Self-Study package at MGMAT. This will help you to pace yourself well, to balance verbal and quant, and to balance learning the strategies with practicing real OG problems. If you would prefer not to do the Guided Self-Study package and just study with the books, though, here's what I recommend:

- definitely use some sort of tracker for OG problems. I recommend MGMAT's OG Navigator, which will track your timing and accuracy on all OG problems, and give you invaluable data to analyze your progress. (I'm sure there are other trackers out there as well, if you want to shop around). We have both a free and an advanced version: https://www.manhattanprep.com/gmat/store ... t-tracker/

- Go through each quant guide chapter by chapter. For example, read the chapter on ratios, the check your learning with the problem set at the end of the chapter. Then go to the back of the guide and find the list of OG problems by topic (or you can find problems by topic listed on Navigator). Do 5-10 ratios problems, then check your work. Error Log any mistakes, then move on to the next chapter.

- When you have finished an entire guide, do a mixed set of OG problems on that topic. Aim to finish one guide per week.

- For verbal, do the same with each chapter in SC and CR. Read the guide, then do a handful of OG problems on that topic. Review deeply. Aim to do one or two chapters of each per week.

- For RC, it's harder to learn by topic, since each passage could include several different question types. Aim to read 1-2 chapters per week, and 1-2 full passages with all accompanying questions from the OG (in any order).

- Take an initial diagnostic CAT if you haven't done so already. Then, take another CAT after 4 or 5 weeks, then after 3, then every 2 weeks after that.
