1) When \(p\) is divided by 10, the remainder is 8.
2) When \(p\) is divided by 11, the remainder is 8.

When we divide an integer by 10, its units digit is the remainder. So Statement 1 is immediately sufficient - the units digit is 8.

The units digit of a number has nothing to do with the remainder you get when you divide by 11, so Statement 2 is useless (e.g. our number can be 19 or 30, which have different units digits).

So the answer is A.
