It really does depend on many factors, such as type of business you've created, in which industry, etc. Also if you have no traditional employment experience, you could be viewed as a wildcard, since you're only as employable as your last job. Your GPA and GMAT (especially your low quant score) will...

It seems like you're in a good predicament. Wharton and Booth are very similar in composition, so if you know the alum base of Wharton will get you further in your home, I'd say go Wharton. If you haven't visited the schools yet, I feel that is a critical step. Even if you're on the other side of th...

If you are interested in restaurants, Cornell has the top hospitality (restaurant and hotel) school in the world. The MMH could be a better option than an MBA if that's your ultimate goal. You could also do a dual degree with them, MBA and MMH, or just MBA with classes at the hospitality school. The...

Why not post the names of the schools? If there isn't a big alum base of Harvard MBAs in your area, but a lot from ITT Tech, I would say Harvard would still be a better school regardless of its lack of alumni base in your area. I know this is a gross exaggeration, but important in my opinion. That s...

According to this, you can expect around a 38% increase in salary from an MBA if you're on the executive level (assumption): http://www.beatthegmat.com/mba/2012/06/01/the-mba-bump-how-much-to-expect Interesting to see that current executive-level MBAs see the smallest bump in pay when exiting the pr...

Top schools look for a symbiotic relationship with the students. You must be able to add something to the school, be of value to the school aside from just another tuition stream, especially with schools who see 3,000+ applicants for 200 slots. This manifests itself in many ways: you could be in the...

My first question is "why". "Because it's a dream of mine" will never get you into those schools, or any top school for that matter. Your GPA is good but your major is light in quant so you won't know your full options until you take the GMAT. What do you want to do post-MBA? You...

If I were you, I would apply to Booth's or Kellog's part-time program. Their deadlines aren't until mid-June for Round 1, and you'd have the option to transfer to full time next year (and with that 750, it wouldn't be that hard). Both Booth and Kellog will get you further into Finance and Entreprene...

Visiting schools is absolutely crucial. However, don't start buying plane tickets until you know your GMAT and thereby your chance of getting in. Once you have a list of programs, arrange a time to visit when class is in session. This is major. And here's why: I didn't know if I wanted to attend a p...

Congratulations on your acceptance into two fantastic programs! While I cannot speak to any pros/cons of NYU, I can speak a little of Cornell. Both Cornell and NYU EMBA programs are in the city (Cornell EMBA is in Queens, Cornell's full time and accelerated are in Ithaca). I am primarily interested ...

Don't be discouraged, though you should definitely wait to apply until next year otherwise you will be forced into a non-competitive MBA which is arguably a waste of money. When I began taking the GMAT, I couldn't get out of the 500s with my math holding me back. I would very VERY strongly recommend...

I was recently accepted into Johnson with a 640 GMAT (42Q, 37V). In the interview I was asked not "If" mind you, but "what" I was doing to bolster my quant. She specifically asked me if I was taking any classes to reduce the potential strain of the first semester, which is more i...

No decent school (Chicago, NW, Haas) allows that, they want people who are committed to the PT entirely. Haas allows PT to switch to FT only after 1 year of PT, and then only after you apply to the FT and provide two 1-page essays on how your circumstances have changed such that a FT makes more sens...

I'm in, I'm done! Cornell, Haas with a 640
So this is a reflection on my past 8 months. It started slow, I took the GMAT in February of 2011 and got a 550. I studied for a weekend with a PR book and got a general feel of the test. I didn't start studying in earnest until June after I got back from campus visits, which added a good deal of mo...

I'd say go with option #2 unless you think you could indeed get a 760. Otherwise I feel you'd be splitting hairs about 710 vs 720. It's evident you're good at taking the GMAT
