The average is reduced by 1/8 a year. That means total age of 40 women is reduced by 40 * 1/8 = 5 years.
50 - 5 = 45
The answer is = C 45

C to E isn't the correct answer because of its incomplete sense so we will eliminate them.
B isn't correct because the statement shows the effect but not the on going effect.
That's why A is the correct answer
