I think you are over-thinking things. You won't really learn anything from taking practise CATS, but you will be able to build an endurance and get used to the timings. I don't think the goal should be to set a time window for every question. Some just take longer than others (and this does not nece...

I agree with what myohmy has said, and will only add that I have scanned the Score 6 sample essays from my OG and they did not ask rhetorical questions- though many have scored 6s and not followed the style/format of the samples.

That reminds me how the Beijing Olympics opened on 08/08/2008 and they let team China enter the Stadium at 8pm.

Seems to be lucky for the 3 of you.

Only you can make that judgement call. My school offered one for the first time ever for $500 (Canadian) which is quite a low price, but it was the first time the instruction was teaching a course of that nature so I don't think it represented good value. I would go ahead and seek the credentials of...

I got an e-mailing advising me that the my Official Score Report was available April 11th for an April 9th test.

Were you at least given an unofficial score report? that gives you a code you need to enter to retrieve your official score report.

Well that is a first!

I personally think GMAC would be obliged to reschedule your GMAT free of charge since it is a civic responsibility.

I'm not sure what a mobile timer application is. My thoughts are that some questions will take more time than others, so the goal isn't to answer every questions in 2 minutes. As a max though, I think you not spend more than 4 minutes on a question. When you read a question, you will have to decide ...

I meant to get sleep the night before the test but just couldn't- I was too nervous. But things worked out ok. I must have needed to wake up at 5am to get to the test centre (I was very early, but wanted to make sure I had a buffer in the case the subway broke down or something). I am not recommendi...

You will only be able to bring your locker key and ID into the testing room. Everything else has to be secured inside the provided locker. You are not allowed anything around your wrists and your pockets must be empty each time you reenter. Dana is right about the water bottle and I'm not sure about...

I disagree.

If someone has a strong command of the english language and is fairly good at math, then the only obstacle is learning to translate that into a form that is compatible with the GMAT.

2 weeks is sufficient to do that.

If you have the time, how about investing less than $100 on some books and see how things go. If you need to, you can do a course and a rewrite.

I only used the Kaplan guide and scored a 680.

Just goes to show you can do well without having to spend a lot of money in the "GMAT industry" I don't know how your school works, but in my case I just sent an e-mail to the program director informing her of my unofficial GMAT scores (less AWA) so she could more quickly make an admission...
