how was 8x8x8 calculated? Thanks Do you mean WHY 8*8*8 is calculated? Because if you visualize a cube with a painted surface, you'll have every cube on the top with a painted side and every cube on the bottom with a painted side=10-2=8 Same with the sides: you'll have every cube on each side with o...

I think the answer to both versions of the question is B First version: Let 1970=100 Then, 1980=100*1.2=120 And 1990=100*1.3=130 And the % increase from '80 to '90 is 120/130~9.2% Second version: Let 1970=100 Then, 1980=100*1.2=120 And 1990=120*1.3=156 And the % increase from '80 to '90 is 120/156~7...

Badly worded question. How do you know that all the cows are eating at the same rate?

This is a problem with permutations with repetition. http://regentsprep.org/regents/math/permut/LpermRep.htm Basically, the directions U-up and L-left --> UULLL can be arranged in 5!/2!*3! ways--> 10 ways because U is repeated twice and L is repeated three times. It's similar to letter combinatorics...

OH!
That's what I thought!
Then--->
117men*8hrs*33days=4/7 of a job
30888hrs=4/7 of job
30888/ 4/7 = x hrs / 3/7
x=23166 hrs
#of workers*13 days*9hours=23166
# of workers=198
AND 198-117=81

I am not I'd be able to do this one in under two minutes b/c of all the calculations....
