let me brag a bit: i got a 6.0 on the AWA without any practise. and then only a 40 on Verbal. that would mean just one thing - the awa does not quite reflect your potential score in verbal. the verbal part isn't about how good an author u r. it wants to know if you can retain details, if you can rea...

It took me 11 months to prepare for the GMAT. The first 3 months went into the basics. by that i mean understanding the GMAT. it's a computer adaptive test, and it's a fairly new thing for me. once i had adequate information about the test i went about with a proper preparation from the 4th month on...

Did you take just two practice tests? You need to take about fifteen if you want to be well prepared. I think that's the biggest hurdle that you've had. I would suggest the MGMAT CATs which provide excellent analyses and explanations for on-the-job learning, Kaplan CATs for making you feel wretched ...

Congratulations. I think you should head straight for HBS, and not even look elsewhere. That said, do your research about what it is that you want to do. I'm sure you have at least a faint idea of what career path you want to take, or perhaps a particular sector you want to work with. Take your fina...

... and know what? I was pretty much born without that part of the brain that processes numbers. so the 80-20 split in favour of quant is very close to my prep ways. took me a long long time - 11 months of prep - to get quant in a bit of order. i still guess whenever there's a permutation & comb...

You're score is fine. Now concentrate on the rest of the apps. And as long as you have good Quant score, don't bother about a relatively low Verbal score. Good luck.

I don't agree that BTG is being selfish. I can see that it has been trying to provide equal opportunities to all members on the forums. However, some members may not be very pleased with a score lower than their practice scores, and that shows in their postings. And I don't agree that posts in the '...

My Scaled score Quant 44 Verbal 30 @Turnpike Thanks for your advice. I think switching to MGMAT at this point can help. Do you have any suggestions on which material to go over and practice to make Math better? I think timed practice of difficult/twisted questions is needed. A 44 in Quant is 74th p...

A Note to All.

When I went for the GMAT two days back, there were eight people who entered the Pearson Vue center in Delhi, and I was one of them. I was assuming that the number would be a lot less, considering that R1 is already over, and R2 is a long way off. It appears that I’m not the only one to have postpo...

May I suggest the Manhattan GMAT CATs? I found them to be extremely useful; and in fact, found the quant questions rather similar (if a trifle tougher) to the actual GMAT. Buy the 6 tests online for US$ 26, or buy any one of their strategy guides (you may get the book at a discount) and look for the...

Congratulations! i remember reading a quote somewhere. it said: "a lot many great things have been accomplished by tired, discouraged men who never stopped trying." You've just proved it right :)

PS. mine's abt 3 days away. and i'd kill for that score of your's :)

Congrats on your score, and congrats on your determination. I have my test on the 3rd Oct, and I know I won't score as much as I want to. But of course I've learn my lesson, albeit a bit too late for this attempt. I'm thinking of another attempt in December. It's nice to see how much one can improve...

I can think of many people who will find it a bit odd to see one get a 770 on a week's study. I've seen a few 770ers on this forum who have made it that big with less than one month's study (often interrupted). I'm sure that is not an actual trend. Of course, if one is bright, as in GMAT bright, one...
