I wrote about this sometime ago: http://gmat.crackverbal.com/score-51-in-gmat-quant/ In a nutshell: A GMAT Q47 scorer will focus on how to solve the question while a GMAT Q51 scorer will focus on how to get the answer. If you understand this, you will realise that many of the tougher questions on Qu...

Off topic Alert! :D A final special note for all of the French speakers out there: the GRE vocabulary will be a little bit easier for you because many of the difficult words in on the GRE come from French. I am a bit surprised because English borrows much more from Latin and I can't imagine too many...

Hello, I think a lot of great advice has been given by the above posters. We have also written about it here: http://gmat.crackverbal.com/effective-gmat-prep/ Speaking from a physiological perspective, the "reptilian" part of your brain has to be controlled. The part that tells us that stu...

One more thing:

Guessing at the end of 3minutes isn't guessing. It is called Giving up! :)

There is a huge difference.

At the outset, excellent analysis. You have a great Verbal score (40) but are looking at super optimizing so great! Guessing strategies are my favourite so love to chip in here :) Ask yourself WHEN do you want to guess. My take is BLINDLY guessing on any question is a bad strategy. Instead you shoul...

Hi Utkal, 1. You have taken only 2 tests so far. You should take atleast a few more - maybe one this long Republic Day weekend and another one next weekend. Don't stuff your schedule with too many tests. They will help you fine-tune but only if you are able to get the questions right in the first pl...

One thing caught my eye so wanted to mention it here. Remember that on a Q 50 or 51 the GMAT will play the "deception" trick on you. The questions will look very easy but you would have ignored some minor thing. It could be not considering a particular value, say 0, or not considering some...

Hi Himanshu, I see many experts have answered your queries but still wanted to give you my $0.02 :) On D-day, I made a good start of verbal section and i know that i was doing good because i was getting hard questions. It is impossible for you to know how well you were doing on the test. Even after ...

Also of note—— If you peruse the OG explanations, it will become clear that they aren't written by the same people who write the questions. Specifically, it's clear that ... ... gmac's best writers write and/or edit the questions (and don't spend their time writing explanations); ... their less...

Hi Tanuj,

That is a great score! Glad I was able to help.

What is more important is the hardwork you put in. Being diligent with your prep is an underrated quality. Your consistency in prep really paid off! :)

<snip> I am confused with this score. I don't know if I should re-attempt again. I am aiming for schools which have had an avg. intake score of 710. I am in no mood to start over again soon. Since my scores always ended in the 670-700 range, I don't know if I can really propel it above 700 in the n...

One doubt that I have, and most confused with is, should I study the concepts for verbal again? Or practice questions and analyze them? If i should study the concepts for verbal again , than which book should I do it from? If you do the analysis mentioned above, you will be surprised to see/know ho...
