I took the GRE in the fall (Q:800 V:580) and am taking the GMAT in 2 weeks. One thing is for sure, you really cannot say one is "easier" than the other. Although there are some similarities, they test many different areas. The verbal section in the GRE is basically a vocabulary test and as...

I had the same experience when I had taken the GRE some time back. I felt I totally bombed the Quant section and was so frustrated it impacted my Verbal section. Ended up getting 800 on the quant which totally shocked me and not doing as well as expected on the Verbal. Its important not to reflect o...

Questions about the Free GMATPrep Software

Does GMATPrep not include explanations for the questions in the practice test? I just took the first test and don't see any information that would help me understand the questions I was unable to solve or guessed on. Also, is it possible to see the scaled score once you've passed the screen where it...

But x^2-y^2 = (x+y)(x-y)

So if (x+y)(x-y) = (x+5)(y-5) doesn't this show that x=y and y=5?

Baffled by Some Algebra

Is x^2 equal to xy?

(1) x^2 - y^2 = (x+5)(y-5)
(2) x = y

Why is the answer B and not D?

Is the answer A?

AC*BE = 60 so AD*BC would also be equal to 60.

The property you want to remember here is the area of a triangle = 1/2*h*w

Depending on how you look at it, the h and w could be AC and BE or AD and BC so their product would be equal since their halves would result in the same area.

For I you can plug in numbers and get different answers and for II the remainder would be the same since you're just going up one multiple of y hence the ans is B.

a total of 6!=6*5*4*3*2*1=720 different words can be made from these six letters the possibilty that W is before R and R is before W is the same thus we have 720*50%=360 Good call that we can simply divide the total by two since the number with R before W and vice versa would be the same. However, ...

if we take condition 2 we know that total parts is 1+2 and the ratio is 1/2, hence girls would get 1/3 of the pot (9/3*1)=3 dollars, and therefore there is one girl, and boys would get 2 parts (9/3*2)= 6 dollars and there are 2 boys in the class. Condition 2 states that each boy gets twice that of ...
